Meet the WIC Team

Tyra Bain

Tyra joined the WIC as an Interpreter in 2021 after completing a Bachelor's of Science in Marine Biology from the University of Victoria. Now, Tyra works as the WIC's Manager, helping to rebuild its collection and exhibits after the devastating fire in 2024.

Tyra loves to share her passion for marine mammals and conservation with the WIC's guests. She has been fortunate to volunteer for various marine mammal conservation groups in both Canada and abroad and enjoys bringing these experiences into her education work.

With the rebuilding of the WIC underway, Tyra is looking forward to seeing the WIC reestablished as a cornerstone for marine education and conservation.

In her free time, Tyra can be found deep in the forest or on the ocean, birding, taking photo-IDs, or just enjoying the beauty of northern Vancouver Island.
