Sponsor a Rebuild Project!
On December 31, 2024, a devastating structural fire destroyed a portion of the historic boardwalk in Telegraph Cove, British Columbia. The Whale Interpretive Centre, an educational facility focused on marine mammal biology and conservation, was lost in the fire.
Support from the Board of Directors, North Island communities, and encouragement worldwide has inspired the Whale Interpretive Centre to rebuild.
Since January 1, 2025, fundraising efforts have made it possible to rebuild much of the facility and begin the process of growing its educational displays and contents. The WIC anticipates reopening summer 2026 with five articulated skeletons and various specimens; through their stories, the WIC seeks to inspire and educate the public to become stewards of the marine environment.
In addition to the WIC's rebuilding fundraiser (which will fund all aspects of the rebuild), the WIC has several opportunities listed below if individuals would like sponsor a specific project.
