Meet the Directors of the JSKWICS

Dr. Emily Gatto

Dr. Emily Gatto grew up spending summers in Telegraph Cove with her family, and worked as an Interpreter in the WIC during the summers from 2014-2020. She is now a veterinarian and works in Port Hardy, treating pets and occasionally wildlife.

Emily met and married her husband at the WIC, and while they don’t have any human kids yet, they do love to spoil their cats, dog, and reptiles!

The line between ‘work’ and ‘fun' is blurry for Emily - from whale watching to fostering kittens, her spare time is still usually spent with animals, even after a long day at the vet hospital.

Emily has countless memories in the WIC- from childhood visits to the Centre when it first opened in 2002, all the way to getting married there in 2023.

Given Emily’s close personal and family ties to Telegraph Cove Resort, the WIC, and some of the specific skeletons that were lost, the fire of 2024 was devastating. But Emily believes Telegraph Cove and the WIC are both founded on a sense of community- a community that has come together to support the rebuild effort and will make sure the future is bright for the WIC.
