Meet the Directors of the JSKWICS
Jim Borrowman
Jim Borrowman is a charter member of the JSKWICS Board and has served in many capacities since 1993. He is currently Chairperson of the Board.
Jim Borrowman has lived and worked in Telegraph Cove since 1975. He was the owner and operator of Stubbs Island Whale Watching - BC's first whale watching company - and Orcella Enterprises.
Jim was among a small group of people who travelled around Vancouver Island advocating for the protection of the Robson Bight. With the establishment of the Robson Bight (Michael Bigg) Ecological Reserve (RBMBER), Jim was honoured as a "honourary warden of the RBMBER.
Jim has been collecting marine mammal skeletons for over 45 years and his collection was the foundation of the WIC's accumulation of skeletons. Thanks to his efforts of collecting, flensing and cleaning many of the specimens in the WIC (along with the help of many staff and volunteers of course), the WIC's collection grew throughout its first 22 years.
Since his retirement, Jim has dedicated much of his time to improving the Whale Interpretive Centre. His heart and soul is in the WIC and Telegraph Cove. Jim is dedicated to the rebuilding journey ahead.
